Kempner Robinson doubles in size (23.10.10)
Kempner Robinson is expanding following the appointment of two solicitors – Dr Brian Whitehead and Paul Colpitts. Their appointments follows a year of significant growth for the firm in its first year of operation during which time Sanjeet Plaha also joined the firm as an assistant solicitor.
Dr Whitehead, who will join Kempner Robinson as a senior solicitor on March 1st, is an experienced and leading specialist in patent litigation and, as a phd chemist, has been recognised by the industry as “one to watch”. Prior to becoming a solicitor, he worked for some time as a research scientist, and then as an academic publisher in the Netherlands. Dr Whitehead joins the firm from Addleshaw Goddard. Miss Plaha qualified in 2009, with the majority of her legal training dedicated to intellectual property law. Assisting with all areas of the firm’s practice, her degree in Biomedical Sciences further bolsters the firm’s credentials in relation to the highly technical matters it handles. Mr Colpitts is a recently qualified lawyer and joins the firm as an assistant solicitor, where he will take on both litigation and non-contentious matters for clients across the full scope of the firm’s practice, which includes patents, trade marks, designs, copyright and passing off.
Richard Kempner, Partner, said: “Kempner Robinson has seen the volume of business grow significantly during the past year so we are delighted to welcome some new, talented recruits into the firm. “The size and complexity of our latest instructions across all the sectors reflects Kempner Robinson’s reputation as one of the leading specialist intellectual property law firms. We don’t see many other firms out there with our expertise and track record, offering client services to the same level as us at our rates, which are significantly lower than those of our competitors, most of whom are London-based.”
The firm’s expansion follows the increase in work from its key clients, including ASDA, Jet2.com, E-buyer, Innospec, JD Sports, Centrica (the owner of British Gas) and the world´s leading chemical company, BASF, from whom Kempner Robinson has already received three complex new patent infringement instructions.
